Missed my cold, comfortable bed.

10:46 AM den 0 Comments

I really, really love my bed.
And I mean that.

I spent the beginning of my weekend with Sierra and ended with Allie.
Saturday morning. Sierra and I headed to Great America (the amusement park). It's been a year since the last time I went--I hadn't gone the whole summer because I just live so damn far away from it, and I still have no license. Bummer. We went on about two rides and ate the rest of the time. I particularly remember that it was about 100 degrees that day. So fuxking hot. I almost wished I was in Canada for the day.
And you know what isn't right? Catcalling. I felt so at fault for wearing shorts and a crop top on a hot day. I'm really not asking for attention. I wore what I felt was comfortable to an amusement park, yet I get catcalled. It's the worst. People who do it scare the shit out of me. Sorry to say this but I'm not interested. I really don't feel safe when it happens either, so just leave me alone! No offense, but if you were well-dressed, I may not be as offended, but since most of you aren't, NO THANK YOU. GOODBYE.

The next day, Allie had her farewell lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
I'm currently in a library rn bc college started! I honestly wanted to delete this blog post, but I just wanted to write about this day just in case I want to read about it again sometime later on.
Julia, Jackie, Tanvi, Kat, Miguel, and Allie's family were there too. To be honest, nothing interesting really happened during lunch LOL. It was mostly after, when I spontaneously spent the night at Allie's house. She didn't want me to go home just yet because that would be the last time I'd see her for who knows how long. I love Allie, so I just decided to stay over and spend some time with her and her family. We ended up going to Kohl's for some last minute-- literally last minute, we had 30 minutes before the store closed--shopping. Then we headed over to the Bourbon Market (I think? maybe it was Boston Market. I don't really remember) and ate some chicken and mac and cheese. The rest of the night, we watched The Purge. I was already falling asleep, and I could tell Allie did not want me to sleep. I was a little annoyed-then I realized I really don't have much time with her.

God, I already miss her. She's crazy and obsessed with too many boys, but I love her. She's my best friend.

Inspired by the show "Awkward"

10:20 PM den 0 Comments

Last summer, I started watching Awkward.
The show is about a girl who lives an  "awkward" life and blogs about it. I'm not really sure why, but blogging always seemed appealing to me.
That was the main reason of the start of this blog - to blog about everything that's happening in my life. I'm going to continue posting OOTDs, songs of the day, etc, but now this blog will become more personal.
Especially since I'm starting college in exactly a week.
Oh god.

Stop & Think | Song of the Day

5:26 PM den 1 Comments

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I bought a moleskine notebook! I've been wanting to keep a journal for quite a while, and here I am. Surprisingly, it's helped me a lot this past week - along with some Lana del Rey and binge-watching Parks & Recreation.

My friends are all heading to college.
There's been too many goodbyes.
I know college is supposed to be super exciting, but I'm really gonna miss everyone. I'm just looking forward to our first reunion! (Thanksgiving probably).

The main point of this notebook is to stop and think. It's a way to contemplate about what's really going on in your life.
Are you happy? Write about it.
Are you sad? Write about it.

Song of the day:

2 OOTD's & a Rant

10:27 AM den 1 Comments

Hey everybody! I've recently been very busy dealing with college. There's just been so much going on, but I have now made a commitment to post at least once a week! Every Thursday, to be exact.
Today I'll be presenting to you two of my favorite outfits from last week and a quick little rant.

Festival Outfit

Floral Kimono: shein.com, $9.99
Grey knit crop top: Euphoria Fashion Shop, $12.00
Denim high-waisted shorts: Forever 21, $8.94

Job Interview Outfit

All of the items featured in the job interview outfit were gifts!

I interviewed at Starbucks for a barista position. No, I did not get the job. No worries! I don't really need a job, but I would like to earn my own money. I'll just start job hunting again soon.

My little rant is about something that meant a lot to me and my friends, Allie and Sierra. Today, we were supposed to meet one of our favorite artists, G-Eazy. He is currently in San Francisco doing a meet and greet. I'm still very upset that we weren't able to go. My parents' reasoning of why we weren't allowed to go is that, "You've never been to the city alone before."
No, I haven't. I've always gone with parents around. The point is, when will I ever go to the city by myself? I understand that being in the city may be dangerous, but when do I get to make my own choices? What difference would it make if I chose to attend a school in San Francisco (which I almost did)? There's also the Outsidelands Festival this weekend, which I'm trying to win tickets for right now. So far no luck, but I'm still trying. 3 more chances. I have been dying to go to this ever since the ticket sales began way back in March, I believe. I asked my parents way in advance but told me to wait. I waited, and now tickets are $250 a piece. :( I bought a moleskine notebook to write down my feelings, haha. I didn't want to blurt out everything on here.

Anyways, I plan on doing maybe a haul for my next post! I've bought quite a lot of things in July, and I want to share my favorites with you all!

Denise

College life... what?

10:00 AM den 0 Comments

I am an 18-year-old girl who does not know how to live her life independently. Mostly because I've spent the past 18 years sheltered in my own home with my parents hovering over me--as LA natives put it, "helicopter parents."
I admit it: I really don't know much about being a grown up. I also prefer being in a smaller group of close-knit friends rather than having hundreds of other ones that I barely even know.
July 14 - 15: college orientation.
Objective? Complete event without complaining/crying/dying.
I am 18 and I don't have my license. I know, you're probably completely judging me right now. I'm a late bloomer! Plus my parents are always scared to take me out driving. Anyways, I took public transportation to my college, SJSU. I met my friend Miguel and Jackie before actually heading down to orientation. When we arrived, we noticed people bringing luggages. Seriously? For a one night thing? But I was too quick to judge. Some people had actually flown from different parts of the U.S. and just had their luggage with them.
The school I'm attending was not exactly my first choice, but I have a feeling I'm definitely going to enjoy it here. 5 minutes into orientation and I had already made new friends named Kara and Sham! I was surprised, mostly because I am the most anti-social person in the world, yet I managed to make friends so quickly.
Right then I knew I was going to be okay
I dormed with Kara and Sham. Each have different personalities, but they were just the greatest roommates.
Later on that morning, we were all put into random groups. I was in group 4. I knew absolutely no one. I said hi to this one girl, but she was really shy. She didn't smile, and I thought she didn't like me for some reason. Kinda made me sad, honestly. But then I thought again--maybe she's just really, really shy. I made a few more friends in my group. Turns out, the most anti-social person in the world was the most not anti-social person in the group. My leader relied on me to answer when no one ever did. If you knew me 10 years ago, I was the kid who never talked. Sometimes, I am still that kid. But not during orientation. Not during college. I'm coming out of my shell for good.

During icebreakers, we played this game called "Aye aye, captain." That's when I saw this very cute boy. Well, the back of a very cute boy. Then he turned around. I'm pretty sure my face had heart eyes. I learned that he was from Huntington Beach. No wonder he was so damn cute.
Then I met a few more locals. I told them which school I went to, and they all said the same thing. "Wow! That place is more expensive than this college. How do you feel coming from a private to a public school?"
My answer? My high school isn't that special. I prefer not bragging about that kind of stuff. Except for the fact that we've had 3 olympians, and one recently went to the olympics. Polina Edmunds. As of coming to a public school? Extremely overwhelming. I came from a class of 22, 475, now to thousands. So yeah, I'm a little bit intimidated.
I am lucky enough to have Miguel and Jackie - my best friends - by my side. What would I do without them?!
As we were divided into our own majors (mine was Undeclared - Pre-nursing), Miguel and I met this girl named Mia. She was the sweetest and greatest person I've met during orientation! She was so much like us. I knew we'd be friends for quite a while. We also met Mia's boyfriend, who came to pick her up. They were absolutely #relationshipgoals.
Miguel, Jackie, and I walked together towards the end of orientation and grabbed a few hot dogs, hamburgers, and fries. Literally, how American can we get.
We walked across the main plaza, and I thought to myself,
"We're going to be okay. Smile. Be confident. Don't let anything stop you from chasing your dreams, because that starts now."

50 Shades of Blue

10:00 AM den 5 Comments

12 days of the blazing sun, warm waters, and tasty seafood.
Honestly, I think I found paradise. I never thought I would actually find a place like this--everything in sight looked like it was just from a postcard: nothing looked real. I couldn't believe it. Exuma is where I want to spend most of my days, right by the beach.

On our first few days on the island, we ate at a little restaurant called "Tropic Breeze." There we met Sergeant Wood, who was actually from Eleuthera--where we went for vacation last year. He was extremely friendly. Eleuthera was one of my favorite spots because of how sweet and kind the people were. They never cease to amaze me with their warm hearts. Anyways, Sergeant Wood informed us about the pig roast at Chat n' Chill. We took a water taxi to Stocking Island at around 4 p.m. and found out that we actually missed the pig roast. We were pretty bummed. Stocking Island that Sunday was probably when I saw the most tourists all in one place, mostly because everything is closed on Sundays except for Chat n' Chill.

Tuesday, we decided to rent a boat for a day. Plenty of little cays to explore in Exuma, so why not use a boat to see the rest we couldn't see from the main island! (I definitely recommend this, the worst thing I've heard someone say on this trip is that they just stayed at their resort. Yay for adventure?)
Tuesday did not exactly have the perfect weather for boating. It was cloudy, but that did not stop us. We found a sandbar that resembled my vision of heaven. White sand everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The waters were so clear and so shallow that you could walk out for miles, and the water would still be by your ankles. Unfortunately, I do not have HD pictures of the beautiful sandbar. We had to swim from the boat--anchored far away from shallow waters. I can only describe the beauty of it: soft, white sand filled with sand dollars, starfish seen from a distance, and the clearest water I've ever witnessed. The turquoise colored sea never failed to make anyone smile.

Exuma is known for their swimming pigs! It would've been a shame if we skipped this part of vacation. Thursday was one of my favorite day spent in the Bahamas. We took a full day tour to swim with these cute pigs and sharks, snorkel in the Thunderball Grotto, and sightsee some of the islands that belong to the rich and famous.
Swimming with pigs seemed a bit scary at first, not gonna lie. Were they friendly? Would they eat anything I gave them?
The answer is yes! To both.
I can check that off the bucketlist :)
I also came to realize that there were plenty of Canadians vacationing on the island. I met one in particular. I'll just tell you guys a quick story.
No one could decide which beach they wanted to go to. In result, we stopped at a restaurant called Big D's. I sat on a bench, waiting for my drink, and looked up to see the most handsome boy I had ever seen in my life. He smiled, and to be honest, I was so confused! Was he smiling at me? He couldn't be. I was wearing no makeup and felt so bare. I was feeling self conscious. The Canadian--for a good 5 minutes--tried to make eye contact with me, but I just couldn't do it. Finally, when I came up to get my drink, he approached me.
"Hello love, are you from the Philippines?"
He had an accent! I almost melted.
This is so teenage like, haha. According to my parents, he was hitting on me. I was completely drowned out by his gorgeous face and stunning body. I really had no idea what he was saying, and no words came out of my mouth.
Main point of the story? Canadians are hot af.

The day began to become even more exciting as we dove into the Thunderball Grotto, where the James Bond movie, Thunderball, was filmed. Different types of fish crossed our paths--none I could identify. The current was fairly strong, and I was constantly being dragged into the ocean (which honestly freaked me out). Honestly, I just want to live here. Buy my own island in Exuma. Just gotta start saving up, like, now.

Lastly, we visited the sandbar in Compass Cay: my favorite spot EVER. I never wanted to leave. There were different shades of blue. It was incredibly beautiful.
Exuma is definitely the place to be.

How could you not like this?!
Not to mention, I stood where Victoria's Secret model, Candice, stood. And Pitbull. Even Kesha. And probably more celebrities.
I've spotted Usher's yacht, Tim McGraw and his wife, and walked where Johnny Depp has.
THIS WAS MY DREAM VACATION.
And I cannot thank my parents enough for bringing me to paradise.

No goodbyes because I'm definitely coming back!

Surreal.

Gooood morning!

I've been in Exuma, Bahamas for almost 4 days now, and I am in love. I visited a different island last year--Eleuthera--and they're both equally amazing. We rented a beach house, which has a spectacular view of the caribbean, and with no other souls other than my family. How amazing is that?! We were actually supposed to arrive around noon last Wednesday, but there were some complications on the plane. The flight attendant literally prepared us for a crash in the middle of our flight: everyone panicked.
"I'm sorry to inform you all this but I'm afraid we'll have to turn back to the United States, folks."
That was possibly the worst thing we'd heard that day. Thank God we landed safely in Miami. We just waited a few hours for the plane to be fixed and voila--we arrived at Exuma around 5 p.m.
The first day was kind of a kickback. Everyone was exhausted from the flight, especially because most of us hadn't gotten sleep in over 24 hours. Our very own beach is just perfect. It began raining in the afternoon, but that made it even more memorable as we swam in the ocean.

We decided to explore a bit the next day and drove to Little Exuma, which was just 30 minutes and a bridge away from the main island. There we found the Tropic of Cancer Beach: heavenly. Surreal.

This picture couldn't even fully capture the turquoise caribbean waters and the white sand. Later on, we found a blue lagoon--definitely one of my favorites so far. We spent most of our time there on the third day and met the only other 3 filipinos on the island!

I'm constantly updating my Instagram and Snapchat with the latest pictures here in Exuma. For more updates, follow/add me on:

22 hours!

12:07 AM den 0 Comments

Hi guys!
In  approximately 22 hours, my plane will be taking off, as we are on our way to - wait for it -
THE BAHAMAS!
Just 2 weeks before vacation, my parents decided to actually book a trip to the beautiful island of Exuma. We weren't planning on going anywhere this year to save money, but things changed. My mom was stressed out; my dad felt the need to travel someplace because my mom really needed a getaway.

Exuma is the home of Johnny Depp's private island, also known as Little Hall's Pond Cay. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was filmed on the Tropic of Cancer beach. Exuma is also known for the Thunderball Grotto, which appeared in the James Bond film, Thunderball.

I'm EXTREMELY excited. This trip was a huge surprise because I completely thought we were staying home this year. I'll definitely have a bit of time to blog during the trip; I'll keep you all posted!
I'll be back in the US by July 5th!

Denise

Lost in those blue eyes.

10:00 AM den 0 Comments

My newest favorite actor happens to be Paul Walker. PAUL WALKER.

If you haven't heard, he died in a car crash maybe a year and a half ago, which I found kind of ironic. One of his quotes were, "If one day the speed kills me, do not cry because I was smiling."
And that makes my heart ache even more.
I recently just found out about him through Allie. She really badly wanted to watch Furious 7, as did I. I saw the trailer and thought it'd be a great movie to watch in the theater. She proceeded to tell me about her obsession with Paul; little did I know that a few months later I'd be obsessed too.
Call me crazy, but I think I've watched pretty much all the movies he's been in--in the span of 4 days. I lost my social life, became the slowest texter, and never did anything productive. This always happens when I become obsessed with a celebrity, i.e. Dylan o'Brien. That obsession doesn't ever end.

The Fast & Furious franchise has become my religion: I worship everything about it. I enjoyed the 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 7th, the most, but all of them were just amazing. I can't pick a single favorite because that's pretty much impossible.

Into The Blue is definitely one of my favorite movies that Paul Walker starred in, alongside Jessica Alba. It's about the two lovers swimming and finding treasure in the Bahamas, not to mention all the complications they run in to.

Varsity Blues and She's All That are two that I could watch over and over again. They're typical coming-of-age teen movies, but I love them. And Paul Walker's hair. And his blue eyes. Okay, I just love everything about him.

I just can't get over that charming smile of his.

Here's a great video that everyone should definitely watch:

I've been spending a lot of time on SoundCloud lately. The website doesn't offer much new music, but it does offer some pretty amazing tracks. Recently, I've been listening to Vanic, Spooky Black, Fetty Wap, J Boog, and Alina Baraz--each completely different from each other.
Here are some of my favorites at the moment!

Vanic x K.Flay // Make Me Fade

Spooky Black // Without U

Fetty Wap // RGF Island

J Boog // Let's Do It Again

Alina Baraz // Urban Flora

Table of Contents

10:18 PM den 0 Comments

By the table of contents, I really meant the list of people that I may or may not talk about. It's sort of like an introduction? Description? Of my friends and family so you all have a sense of what the person is like when I bring them up in posts.
No, I am not going to put up a picture for every single person. I never got their permission to do that on here because they don't have a link to my blog! Or if they do, hi guys. Don't hate me.
Plus, it's too much work to put in a picture for every single person. I mean, do I look like the type of person who would upload 10 pictures in one blog post?

Okay so here it goes (in no particular order):

1. Mother: vertically challenged, most of the time strict and occasionally funny, loves spicy food, works as an assistant nurse manager at Kaiser so she probably knows how to take care of the fam pretty well;
2. Father: loves the ocean life, fishing is life, can barely hear a thing, pretty funny, enjoys sleeping a lot on the couch, watches baseball, hockey, horse racing, and basketball;
3. Brother (Chris): very short-tempered, very impatient, loves to eat ice cream, makes weird noises, farts a lot, spends a lot of time either on his xbox or playing with friends that are just like him;
4. Jackie: my very first friend since I moved here, loves the color purple, bubbly attitude, extremely friendly, enjoys painting her nails, always there when you need her;
5. Eegee: vertically challenged like me, my twin, watches Supernatural and The Walking Dead, very upbeat, daring and willing to do mostly anything, very spontaneous, also best friend;
6. Allie: so extremely unique, sometimes unpredictable, loves all things related to One Direction/Tokyo Hotel, insanely obsessed with Paul Walker, listens to "See You Again" at least once a day;
7. Miguel: quirky relatable teen, first friend in high school, asexual but loves boys, gives really detailed descriptions about everything, enjoys watching 1923102 shows on Netflix, owns a record player and many vinyls;
8. Kat: met her during Disneyland trip, 2 years younger, good company, knows much knowledge about shows and movies, owns a cute dog named Botas, enjoys online shopping, drinks Mexican coke a lot, whitest Mexican I know;
9. Gabe: lives fairly close to me, has lots of money, sometimes can be lame because he doesn't respond to texts, loves his fam, smells really good, wears nike everything;
10: Julia: egg, also quirky relatable teen, very tumblr, has a perfect body, always has hummus at her house, good taste in music, enjoys everything Buzzfeed, corn.

Those are pretty much the people I talk to on a daily basis, according to my recent messages LOL

My card's suffered through a lot.

5:10 PM den 1 Comments

I recently just received my first debit card for my birthday, as well as a few gift cards from various stores. Since I've been home and on the computer most of the time, I tend to spend some money on clothes--clothes that I barely even wear because I'm never out of the house! lmao. It's the truth.

Here are just a few of my favorite online purchases the past two weeks (most of them were on sale thank god):

1. Pins & Needles Lace Halter Bra (Urban Outfitters), $20
2. Aerie for AEO Convertible Bralette (American Eagle), $7.50

3. Flat Front Denim Shorts (Forever 21), $14.90
4. AEO Soft & Sexy Ribbed Baby T-Shirt (American Eagle), $10

5. AEO Wrap Front Romper (American Eagle), $22.50

LOL @ Blog Name

4:23 PM den 0 Comments

Hi.

I'm kinda new to this whole blogspot thing so bare with me.

The reason why I named it "Clueless Den" is because I really am clueless--pretty much about everything. Here I am, about to be off to college and I can't even cook dinner for myself. Unless you count mac and cheese and dinosaur nuggets.

One of my nicknames is Den. Just a shorter version of my name probably because it's a hassle to say the whole "Denise." Den, Den-Den, Di, D-nice, Dennis, Dentist... the list can go on for a little longer but let's just not. Call me whatever you want--I really don't care.

Two of the main inspirations for this blog is the show Awkward and One Tree Hill. I'm currently working on OTH and no more social life for me, ha. I spend a whole lot of time on Netflix. The funny part? I don't even own Netflix. I just use my friend's (Miguel's).

Knowing me, I always start things but I never actually keep going with it (i.e. exercising, watching a show, eating a subway sandwich, etc). But hopefully I'll keep this going for a little while, ya know? I'll keep you all updated on my somewhat boring life.

Um... Pictures in next blog post??? Yeah ok.

Kisses and Kitkats,
Denise

What Am I Doing?

1:09 AM den 0 Comments

Important question that I don't even have the answer to.
Well, I'm about to head off to college, and I thought I could use this blog to rant about stuff. You know, important stuff, boring stuff, cool stuff, anything really. And you're welcome to read about my very uneventful life. lol.

I could tell you more about myself, but I'm just too tired. It's literally 1:06 a.m. on a Friday night (morning?). And I kinda already did start a blog on Weebly, but I think I'm gonna like this blogging platform better. So how about that.

I'll continue tomorrow.

Goodnight!

Kisses and Kitkats,
Denise
